We are often asked to help customers choose a computer so, let’s take a quick look at the important points to consider when choosing your PC:
Our first piece of advice is not to necessarily be tempted to jump staright in and buy the cheapest PC available but to step back and look at the purchase from several angles. Buying a PC is a considerable investment and It is likely that you will be using your PC for many years. Your PC may also become a critical part of your business and hold customer details, orders, and company accounts which are vital for the smooth running of your business (or private life!) and buying an unreliable PC from an unknown manufacturer merely because it was cheap, can have disasterous consequences. We strongly recommend sticking to well known, reputable, brands such as Dell, HP or Toshiba. You can browse the extensive range of PC’s these companies offer by using the links to their websites on my Resources page:
You can see that you can purchase PCs direct from all three companies, however, if you prefer to touch and feel a PC before purchase then we recommend PC World, Currys or Dabs (again see our Resources page).
In today’s world of hackers and virus attacks it is vital to protect your PC with Firewall and Anti-Virus software. McAfee produce a selection of products which are ideal for this and which we are very happy to recommend. Once again these can be purchased direct from McAfee or via a computer superstore such as PC World (refer to our Resources page).
